ABSTRACT

Background: With rising trends in research and scientific writing, various ethical organizations have been vigilant over developing rigorous authorship criteria. There may be times, when authors tend to publish more due to their seniority or previously earned credit for former publications, proving the existence of Matthew effect in scientific research. It indicates that the majority of publications in a field are contributed by smaller number of authors. It was hypothesized that the Matthew effect may be still applicable for scientific work published by Indian pediatric dentists in the official Journal of Indian Society of Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry (JISPPD) from 2015 to 2019. Methodology: To assess the number of times each author has published in the official Journal of Indian Society of Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry, we downloaded all issues for the 5-year period from the journal website. Full names of all authors were entered year-wise in Microsoft Excel 2007 and descriptive statistics were used for finding out contribution percentages. Results: A total of 372 papers were published during the study period by 1148 authors. About 82% had at least one publication, followed by 12% publishing at least two papers; only 1% of the total authors had contributed to more than five publications. The result showed the absence of Matthew effect for publications in the JISPPD. Conclusion: The final results of the study did not show any presence of Matthew effect among authorship in the JISPPD.

ABSTRACT

Social skills may favor the interpersonal relationship of psychiatric patients, preventing relapses and readmissions; on the other hand, a deficit in social skills (SS) may set up symptoms, effects or risks to the development of psychopathologies. This study develops a bibliometric study of the Brazilian academic production about social skills and mental health. After analyzing sixty-six studies, results indicate that most of the studies were published as scientific articles of dual authorship; the production concentrates between the years 2009 and 2014, coming from researches carried out at public institutions located in South/Southeast regions of Brazil. Moreover, it is noticeable a higher number of studies approaching the correlation between social skills and symptoms of psychiatric disorders in university and clinical sampling populations and the application of the Social Skills Inventory - Del Prette SSI.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE:To know about the research status of health utility value obtained by mapping method in pharmacoeconomic evaluation ,and to provide reference for bibliometric study in pharmacoeconomic evaluation . METHODS : Using“Mapping method ”“Health utility value ”“Cost-utility”“Utility point system ”as Chinese and English keywords ,retrieved from CNKI ,Wanfang database ,PubMed,Medline,Ebsco,Ovid and Wiley database ,empirical journal documents published from the inception to Dec. 31st,2018 about using mapping method to obtain health utility value were collected. The bibliometrics was used to statistically analyze basic information of included literature ,the construction and test of the model ,the type of the best model and so on. RESULTS :The 124 included documents were all published in English journal. In the construction and testing of the mapping model ,the most frequently used econometric methods ,performance evaluation indicators and model testing methods were ordinary least squares (OLS),mean absolute error (MAE)and residual normality test ,application frequency of which were 97 times(31.60%),89 times(24.93%)and 62 times(21.09%). There are 117 articles that define the best mapping model ,of which 101 articles(86.32%)have the best direct mapping effect. Most of the non-utility measurement scales adopted specific scales (92 articles,77.97%),and a few literatures adopted the universal scale (26 articles,22.03%). The most utility measurement scales were 3-level European 5-dimensional health scale (79 articles,66.95%). CONCLUSIONS :The domestic empirical researches that use the mapping method to obtain health utility values need to be developed yet. A series of mapping models successfully developed by foreign scholars not only provide the feasibility of using non-utility measurement scales for cost-utility analysis ,but also provide more ideas for China to choose the corresponding econometric methods ,evaluation indicators and mapping methods in the empirical research of the mapping method in the future.

ABSTRACT

Ever since the 1990s virtual reality has been applied in healthcare to treat phobias and mental disorders, and is currently used for neurorehabilitation, as it is able to deceive the brain and extrapolate the user to a virtual world. Given the growing interest in the topic, this study aims to analyze the high-impact scientific production about virtual reality applied to neurorehabilitation included in the Web of Science and Scopus in the last 10 years. To achieve this end, a bibliometric methodology was used based on a number of keywords checked in databases and used by different authors in their publications. Eight variables were analyzed, in line with previous studies: total number of documents, production per year, document type, source title, affiliation, countries, authors and most cited articles. Among the results is the growing interest in the topic as of the year 2013 and the boom in production in 2016, as well as the involvement of the main world powers in research and publication about the use of virtual reality for rehabilitation. Finally, analysis of the metadata shows an incipient panorama in publications about virtual reality in healthcare, with the United States as the country with the greatest scientific production(AU)

ABSTRACT

A literature review was made to analyze the scientific production published by Cuban authors on the primary open angle glaucoma in the last 35 years. To this end, the scientific articles from the medical journals included in Medline (PubMed), Regional SciELO, CUMED, IBECS and Lilacs. Thirtty three articles were recovered in total, 27 were original manuscripts, 4 literature reviews and one case report. The reported results of such studies show the achievements attained by the Cuban researchers in the field of this important eye disease, particularly the anti-glaucoma treatments and the early screening of patients with glaucomatous risk factors. However, no paper about the relationship of this disease with atherosclerotic risk factors was found, which would have serve as a basis for the conduction of new research studies(AU)

ABSTRACT

Suicide is a major problem of public health leading to great economic, social, and psychological costs worldwide. Around one million people die every year on the world due to suicide. Furthermore, suicide is responsible for half of violent deaths worldwide exceeding even the combination of deaths due to war or homicide. Taking into account the above, researchers around the world recommended concerted efforts to generate actions, research, and investigation with the objective of reduce risk to suicide. Therefore, evidence from empirical research supporting public health policies and psychological treatments is needed. The present article introduces a bibliometric study aimed to examine the state of empirical research on suicide in Argentina, and specially the amount of psychological empirical research. Specifically, research methodology consists of the following aspects: As regards the criteria of inclusion / exclusion of articles, the search focused on the detection of empirical suicide articles. In this sense, the main criterion for inclusion in the analysis was based on studies that have been published or were being published in scientific journals. For the aforementioned reasons, they were excluded from this study theoretical article, books, book chapters, theses, and conference presentation. Also, those articles that used the term suicide to address problems outside the addressed (e.g., Suicide Gene Therapy) were excluded from the analysis. In relation to the search strategy, the main database used has been Scopus, which maintains a leading position among bibliographic databases. In this sense, the journals included in the database have very high quality standards. The two principal terms used in the search have been suicide and suicidal. The selection of these two words is because account for the main variables involved in suicide, as expressed in terms such Suicide attempt, Suicidal act, Suicidal behavior and Suicide ideation. The full search term applied in SCOPUS is transcribed below: TITLE (suicide) OR TITLE (suicidal) AND NOT TITLE (suicidal gene) AND NOT TITLE (gene therapy) AND NOT TITLE (suicidal dna) AND NOT TITLE (suicide dna) AND NOT TITLE (suicide drugs) AND NOT TITLE (eryptosis) AND NOT TITLE (streptococcus pneumoniae) AND NOT TITLE (assisted suicidal) AND NOT TITLE (assisted suicide) AND NOT TITLE (iron suicide) AND NOT TITLE (proton suicide method) AND LIMIT-TO (DOCTYPE, "ar") OR LIMIT-TO (DOCTYPE, "re") OR LIMIT-TO (DOCTYPE,"ip"). Other databases consulted were LILACS and PUBMED. PUBMED is open access and is the main database of health sciences in the world, produced by the National Library of Medicine in the United States. These bases were mainly used to supplement the data obtained by SCOPUS and specifically, were used to achieve a broader and more complete picture of empirical studies on suicide, carried out specifically in Argentina. LILACS search term used was suici$ (Argentina). In PUBMED search term used was suici* (Argentina). The sign * and $ were used to retrieve words of the same family, such as suicide or suicidal. Finally, for the calculation of bibliometric indicators we took into account the suggestions given in the international literature. Thus, the following descriptive data were analyzed: number of items by country, number of items by country depending on the year, international collaboration of , considering year too, language of publication of articles, and thematic areas involved. Results show that scientific literature concerning suicide in South America is limited, even more in Argentine. Moreover, most research in suicide is based on medical rather than psychological approach. Indeed, regarding the number of publications (f = 443) in South American countries, they only represent 1.49% of the articles published worldwide. The scientific research on suicide is even more critical in Argentina. Specifically, when considering publications on Scopus, LILACS and PUBMED, empirical research in this country represents only 1.41% of the extant literature on suicide. However, in recent years there have been an increasing number of publications from which may reflects a burgeoning interest in this topic. Results also indicate a greater collaboration between Argentina and other countries, particularly United States, as indicated by co-authorship studies (f = 6). Surprisingly, collaboration with (main producer of scientific articles in the South American region) is scarce (f = 2). Finally, take into account publications from in research data bases analyzed (Scopus, LILACS, and PUBMED) we note that most research on suicide has been published in medical journals (f = 30;71.42%), while a lower number of articles has been published in psychological journals (f = 5; 1.19%).Globally, these results claim for more empirical research in suicide from psychologist, particularly in Argentina.
